Steven Thomas, Owner

Located in Nevada County, 30 miles NE of Lake
Tahoe, we are surrounded by some of the most
beautiful scenery and lakes in Northern California. Steven
Thomas started learning his skills as a designer and fabricator of custom
RVs, campers and trailers. In 1984 he began building custom house boats
of his own unique design . As time went on he dedicated his business to
the fabrication, restoration, and refinishing of all types of boatworks.
Steven has completed over 40 wooden boat restorations and has won
7 first place boating awards. Some of his projects included restorations
and refinishing of several boats for avid collectors' such as Alan Furth,
and Tom Gentry. Please spend a moment to view the gallery
of some of these fine works.
Other unique projects include a 40' steel sailboat, including all
the interior woodwork.
Steven has designed his own line of fiberglass kayaks and wooden canoes.
Together with Alan Adler, he designed a marathon racing wooden transom
stern canoe, a 15 1/2 footer weighing only 33lbs, an 18
1/2 footer weighing only 44lbs. Steven is also a veteran canoe racer,
with 2 state championships, qualified in 3 Olympic time trials, and won
2 western regional. He also collects and restores antique bicycles. Steven's
competitive spirit, and love for America's classics, have made Thomas Fabrication
and Boatworks a winning business. Steven is dedicated to building and restoring
wooden boats with a zeal to complete each project with fine tuned skill,
expert knowledge, and a first place attitude.
Thomas Fabrication and Boatworks is renowned for it's dedication
to originality and the use of modern materials wherever possible. Our west
system bottoms are of the highest quality materials, and withstand an enduring
life. We use the highest quality traditional varnishes in our finishes
that magnify the beauty of fine wood and craftsmanship.
Our

Design and Consulting, doing most
of our finer detailed woodwork and millwork. Over the years we have found
the best craftsmen in the business to assure every aspect of your project,
including upholstery to mechanical systems as well.
